It’s Håkan’s home water and a place where Morten likes to bring his camera. Small forest lakes with rainbows and a varied fishery. A great place for beginners as well as the experienced. The headline might sound a bit counter intuitive, but there’s sense in the madness. It’s still cold, we’re just (in the northern hemisphere) heading into spring. The water warms up slowly and fish can still hold deep, close to the bottom.
Booby Flies. The name says it it all. These flies are busty… hot and will turn eyes anywhere – in the vice, in your fly box and under water. Fly tiers and – fishermen either hate or love boobs. Trout on the contrary has more of a one-track-mind. They love Boobies to pieces – and I feel the same way about these small morsels.
Think weedless flies, and I guess you see images of surface popper fishing in lily pads on a warm summer day passing through your mind. If you live on the southern hemisphere that even might be an option right now. If you life in the north… well summer surface action seems light years away right now, as we are getting close to winter Solstice. But using weedless flies or weedless fishing techniques still make a lot of sense.
