From Vise to Water | April 24 – May 5, 2027
Great fishing is even better when you share it.
That’s really what our Ahrex trips are all about. Bringing people together who share the same passion for fly fishing, fly tying and spending time on the water.
You don’t need to know anyone before joining us. You just need to enjoy fly fishing and be ready for some great days with good people.
In 2027, we’re heading back to Acklins Island in the Bahamas for 10 days of bonefishing. And we’re going at one of the best times of the year, right in the middle of the prime bonefishing season.

Why travel with Ahrex?
Because we believe there’s more to a great fishing trip than catching fish.
It’s about sharing experiences, learning from each other, talking flies and fishing over dinner, and enjoying the days together. Some of the best moments happen when we’re not even fishing.
We keep our trips relaxed and informal. Whether you’ve been chasing bonefish for years or this is your first saltwater adventure, you’re welcome.

And with Ahrex, you’re travelling with people who know their fishing, enjoy sharing what they’ve learned and are just as excited about the next day on the water as you are.

10 days of bonefishing on Acklins Island
Acklins Island is one of those places that makes you want to come back.
Endless white flats, clear water and plenty of opportunities to spot and cast to bonefish. It’s sight fishing at its best, and once you’ve experienced a bonefish taking your fly and making that first run, you’ll understand why we love it so much.
We’ve chosen late April and early May for a reason. It’s prime season for bonefishing in the Bahamas, and we want to give everyone the best possible starting point for a great fishing trip.

We’ll be staying at Grey’s Point Bonefish Inn, one of our favourite places on the island. The lodge is perfectly located for fishing, with excellent flats right outside the door. On calm mornings, you can sometimes spot bonefish from the veranda, and there’s even a chance to catch one before breakfast.

Fish together, explore at your own pace
Most of our fishing is done by wading the flats. We explore different areas of the island, using canoes or walking short distances from our cars.
We’ve spent many years fishing Acklins and will share our experience, maps and knowledge of the different fishing spots.
Some days you might head out with a couple of others. Other days you might prefer to explore a flat on your own. That’s entirely up to you.

And there’s more than bonefish around Acklins. You also have opportunities for barracuda, permit, tarpon, jacks and snappers.
If you’d like to spend a day fishing with a professional guide from a skiff, we can help arrange that before the trip. This is especially worth considering if you’d like to target permit or tarpon, or if you’re completely new to saltwater fly fishing.

Your Ahrex host – Søren Flarup
Søren has been part of Ahrex from the very beginning and has designed many of our saltwater hooks.
He also has many years of experience fishing tropical saltwater destinations and knows Acklins Island well.
Søren will be there to share his experience, help with flies and fishing techniques, and make sure everyone feels part of the group.

The trip starts before we leave
One thing we really enjoy about our Ahrex trips is getting everyone together before departure.
We’ll meet online for a relaxed introduction to the trip, talk about gear and fishing, and spend an evening tying flies together.
It’s a good opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and get to know the people you’ll be travelling with.
That way, when we meet on Acklins Island, we’re already a group rather than a bunch of strangers.
