Winter on the coast

We’re lucky in Scandinavia that most winters are mild enough that we can fish through them. It happens every now and then the it’s cold enough to put a lid on, even in the salt. The shallower areas, where there isn’t much current (yet often good fishing) can freeze over and the same of course goes for our lakes. But even with very cold water, there’s always a chance. It’s slim, but if you never buy a lottery ticket you never win.

East Coast Magic

We have once again received a contribution from Billy Scott, whom we featured on the blog before, where he told a little about his sea trout fishing. We pleased that Billy Scott once again has shared a little info with us.

A new front

We’ve opened a new front. We’ve always been very grateful for the response we get on social media and we’ve been active, primarily on Instagram, but also on Facebook – even on TikTok. Now we’re expanding and we hope that you will enjoy our new PodCast-channel. To open the ball, we’ve launched five podcasts.

Scotlands Brackish Water

Hi everyone,

I was kindly asked by Mo & Søren at Ahrex HQ if I would like to do a blog on how I fish for sea trout here in Scotland’s saltwater. The answer was simple yes. The team at Ahrex are out of this world and have looked after me so much since I became part of their overseas Pro Team, so it was a no brainer for me!

I’ve fished many places in Scotland for over 35 years in the saltwater and have had an absolute amazing time, even the ones I’ve hooked and lost, I remember as if it was yesterday.

New colours

Mariager - 21-04-06

In November 2019, we released the news that we had acquired the Flexistripper from our long term friend and developer of the Flexistripper, bamboo rod builder extraordinaire, Bjarne Fries. We haven’t regretted buying the rights to the production from Bjarne one second since then. We still believe that the Flexistripper is one of the best and most versatile, allround line-management-gizmos on the market.

Staffan – in memoriam

Staffan_1

Staffan Lindström, Henrik Leth and Danish split cane rod, building legend, Bjarne Fries, photographed at Rena Fiske Camp.

Another of the great. Scandinavian fly fishers is no longer among us. On the morning of January 17th, Staffan Lindström passed away. Not long ago he was diagnosed with cancer to which he finally succumbed. Staffan was an innovator, an excellent caster and fisherman, trout bum, outdoors man in the word’s truest meaning and a giving person.

Ahrex Flexistripper

We’ve written about our Ahrex Flexistripper before. If you follow the blog you may remember we (re)launched it in September and it has of course been featured on the blog a few times. When I wrote about the launch of the Ahrex Flexistripper I called it “our latest child”, but the fact is that it’s not really our child at all, and when we launched it, it wasn’t even a child.
