The Smallmouth Bass (Microterus Dolomieu) is without doubt, one of the most popular freshwater fish in North America. As a “gamefish” the smallmouth is one of the hardest fighting freshwater species and highly sought after by longrodders and conventional fishermen alike. Smallmouth also play a large part in the overall US fishing industry, as several major fishing tournaments are centered in prime smallmouth lakes and rivers.

Ever present
We’re heading into the cold season and when fly fishing for sea trout in Scandinavia, most fly fishers turn to provocative flies. Chartreuse, orange and especially pink are important colours. This really is a development that began taking place in Denmark in the late 1980s, particularly in and around Mariager Fjord in the middle of Jutland.
Fishing sea bass along the west coast of Denmark is becoming increasingly popular. It’s not new – it was in the mid to late 1990s that I first heard of a couple of pioneers targeting this unusual species. They can be found along the entire west coast, but the fishing seems to be best along the northern shores.
Bending? No more – the SA 258/PR 358 CA Bendback is here
We’re pleased to, once again, announce the official release of a new hook. We love making hooks, and in particular ones that are made for specific purposes, maybe even a model others would call a niche product. It only makes it better when they are a result of a collaboration with others. In this instance the hook is a result working with Chris Adams (from Australia), who contacted us about a bend back hook for his barramundi fishing.

Scotlands Brackish Water
Hi everyone,
I was kindly asked by Mo & Søren at Ahrex HQ if I would like to do a blog on how I fish for sea trout here in Scotland’s saltwater. The answer was simple yes. The team at Ahrex are out of this world and have looked after me so much since I became part of their overseas Pro Team, so it was a no brainer for me!
My name is Billy Scott, I fell in love with these fish many years ago when I caught my first sea trout as a wee boy. I never thought way back then that it would take me on this journey today. I’ve fished many places in Scotland for over 35 years in the saltwater and have had an absolute amazing time, even the ones I’ve hooked and lost, I remember as if it was yesterday.
Continue reading “Scotlands Brackish Water”XO – Series release
Today marks the official release of a brand new series of hooks that we have chosen to call XO. XO has plenty of meanings in today’s world. Our younger readers will relate it to “hugs and kisses” in text messages while our slightly, how should I put it, more seasoned customers might tend to connect it with cognac, where it signifies that a cognac has been aged for at least six years in oak barrels. We – however – use the term differently, as an abbreviation for Cross Over.
Give the baitfish a break – swing some streamers
Water covers just around 71 % of the Earth’s surface. Being an angler, that is a very comforting thought. And while the Earth keeps turning, the rivers keep flowing and waves breaks repeatedly as they hit the beach – the underwater drama of life and dead never stops.
